Julian Emery
Managing DirectorJulian has developed the main contracting arm of the business since joining in 1995, from Ernest Ireland Construction, where he spent 11 years as a Site Agent managing projects in the South West. His time is spent on day to day running of the business as well as focusing on major projects, property development and corporate finance.
Simon Emery
DirectorSimon joined the family business in 1985 straight from university and has spent many years managing the growing business. Simon has been responsible for a large number of varied projects including many to listed buildings. Simon continues to lend his knowledge and experience to the management team.
Piers Rendell
Estimating DirectorPiers joined Emery Brothers in 1993 after 6 years as estimator with R. Butcher and Sons. He joined the board of directors in 1996 and is now responsible for the estimating and surveying within the business.
David Blackman
Contracts DirectorHaving spent 14 years working for Bovis Construction on numerous prestigious projects, David joined the company in 2004 specifically to undertake the management of the Emery Brothers' then largest project, The Egg Theatre in Bath. Since then he has successfully managed many large projects, including most recently the £19m Bath Abbey Footprint Project.
Merja Stewart
Finance & HR DirectorMerja joined Emery Brothers in 2011 and in 2016 she was appointed Director of Finance. She is in charge of all aspects of accounting and HR.
Ieuan James
Contracts DirectorIn 2010 Ieuan joined the team at Emery Brothers working as a general labourer. Since then he has diligently progressed up to his current role where he manages many prestigious renovation projects. These include the Bath Abbey, Bowood House and the Hauser & Wirth gallery in Somerset. In 2023 Ieuan joined the board of directors.
Felix Emery
Contracts DirectorThe 4th generation of the Emery family, Felix joined the business in 2013. In 2022 Felix started as a Contracts Manager and was appointed a Director in 2023. As a Site and Contracts Manager Felix has worked on complex and prestigious projects for Bath Abbey, National Trust and the Duchy of Cornwall.
Stuart Gregory
Contracts ManagerStuart finished school in 1998 entering a 3 year apprenticeship in carpentry and joinery whilst working for the family business. He qualified with a City and Guilds CITB level 3 in carpentry and joinery in 2001. After more than 15 years of working on site he joined us as a Contracts Manager in 2016.
Simon Bright
Contracts ManagerSimon joined Emery Brothers in 2014 having relocated from Cornwall. He has brought over twenty years of practical knowledge and experience with him and has successfully managed a number of new build, heritage and refurbishment projects.
Jon Samson
Contracts ManagerJon joined Emery Brothers in 1997 and has managed the Small Works team since 2013. Jon has worked on a variety of projects ranging from small refurbishments and extensions to larger developments. The most important aspect of his work is providing a high quality and personal service to his clients.
Neil Cornock
Commercial ManagerNeil joined Emery Brothers in 2021 as Commercial Manager following over 30 years of Commercial Management experience. Over the years, Neil has worked for Tier 1 and medium sized organisations in the South West region overseeing the commercial department. Neil has worked in various sectors including health, leisure, retail, private developments and civil engineering.
Nigel Morris
Quantity SurveyorNigel joined the team in 2021 with over 30 years of Quantity Surveying experience. Nigel has worked on schemes both large and small covering various sectors including Conservation, Leisure, Education, Health and Commercial. Since joining us Nigel has worked with clients such as the National Trust and Bath Preservation Trust.
Sam Thornell
Quantity SurveyorAfter completing a Building Surveying BSc in 2007, Sam has worked both as a consultant and contractor within the industry. Sam joined Emery Brothers in 2020 and is responsible for surveying for the Small Works team.
Liam Bailey
Trainee Quantity SurveyorLiam joined Emery Brothers in 2023 as a trainee Quantity Surveyor. Working towards a RICS chartership, he assists other Quantity Surveyors on larger projects and has started surveying on small projects of his own. Prior to joining Liam worked for 4 years as a junior contracts manager at an electrical contractor.
James Watson
EstimatorJames finished college in 2013 obtaining his HNC in Construction. James has had work experience as a Junior Architectural technician, Building Labourer, and CAD Estimator for a block and beam company. James joined Emery Brothers from a mechanical contractor where he was working as an estimator producing tenders for commercial projects ranging in value of £100k to £5 million for the mechanical package.
Paula Rendell
Accounts and Training AdministratorIn 2000 Paula originally joined Emery Brothers as a secretary. After taking time off to have children she now works in the accounting department and is also responsible for organising in house and external staff training.
Louise Kirby
SecretaryLouise is normally your first point of contact when you call or visit, she provides secretarial assistance and administration support to the wider team.
Aaron Williams
Quantity SurveyorAaron Joined Emery in 2024, coming into our Surveying and Estimating department with a degree in BSc (Hons) Quantity Surveying and 3 years experience. In previous roles he has worked as a QS on a range of projects including high-end marine based fitout, Waterways infrastructure and city centre fitouts / restorations. He also as experience working as a Project manager on a restoration and conversion project.
Ben Bowers
Site Manager
Originally qualifying as cabinet maker in 2000, Ben has a specific interest in fine joinery installation, cabinetry and heritage work. Having worked as both carpenter and manager in the high-end residential and commercial sectors in Sussex, London and Bath, he joined Emery Brothers in 2019 to work on the prestigious Bath Abbey Footprint Project and since then has managed sites for the Theatre Royal Bath and National Trust.
Mark Davies
Site Manager
Mark holds 35 years of all-around construction experience having originally joined Emery Brothers in 2004. Mark is part of the Small Works team and is responsible for running multiple projects that vary from small to large residential refurbishments and new build projects.
Ashley Dyer
Site Manager
Ashley started off his career in construction with a bricklaying apprenticeship, going on to work as a ground worker supervisor for another Bath-based contractor. Since joining Emery Brothers in 2021 Ashley has progressed to the role of Site Manager, working on a range of projects from ecclesiastical to commercial.
Mike Earwaker
Site Manager
Mike has worked for Emery Brothers for over 25 years. Turning his hand to various trades and working as a handyman specialising in roofing repairs for many years, Mike took on the new role of Site Manager in 2023.
David Feather
Site Manager
David recently joined Emery Brothers as a Site Manager after working as a freelance site agent for a number of years. David initially trained as a carpenter before moving on to management and has worked on a broad range of projects in 40 years + career.
Gavin Ferris
Site Manager
Gavin has worked as a subcontractor for Emery Brothers for the past 14 years. Starting as an apprentice carpenter and then progressing on to supervising and management. In 2021 Gavin joined Emery Brothers as a full-time Site Manager.
Joe Paget
Site Manager
Joe joined Emery Brothers in 2013 as a site labourer before training as a carpenter and gaining lots of experience and knowledge across many sites. Joe is now a Site Manager as part of the Small Works team, working on a range of domestic and commercial projects.
Jon Scofield
Site Manager
Jon joined Emery Brothers in 2018 having spent 19 years with Carillion Plc on numerous tier 1 projects across the construction and civil engineering businesses. Jon currently works in the major works team on a range of larger residential and commercial projects.
Rory Sutton
Site Manager
Rory completed a diploma in Construction and the Built Environment and an apprenticeship with VolkerStevin in Dover, on the DWDR project valued at £115m where he achieved his NVQ Level 3 in construction contracting operations. He then decided to go to university and study construction project management at the University of the West of England, graduating in 2021 and going straight into work with Lancer Scott where he gained further experience on new build, refurbishment and fit-out projects. Rory joined Emery Brothers in 2023.
Luca Toto
Site Manager
Luca started working in construction on new build projects in 2017 along with achieving level 3 NVQ in construction contracting operations. He joined Emery Brothers in October 2023.
Michael Hall
Site Manager
Mike trained from 1997- 2000, gaining his level 3 NVQ in carpentry and bench joinery. He served 6 years as a joiner but then segued into site carpentry, where he built a varied career in all aspects of carpentry. He joined Emery Brothers in May 2024 as a site manager.
Ben Thal-Jantzen
Site Manager
Ben joined Emerys in 2024. He started his career in cabinet making and joinery and gained City Guild in Furniture Studies. He then made a career change and graduated in 2000 with a Degree in Construction Management. Since graduating he has worked for contractors in the South West carrying out site management roles on numerous types of new build and renovation projects including, commercial, education, health, and residential. Ben brings his extensive site management experience and earlier joinery experience to Emery’s and will be managing the larger projects.
